Purpose:

A weather station is designed to help you monitor and predict upcoming weather conditions. This building will allow you to protect your camp from storms to help prevent losses due to high winds, hail, or even worse. You will only be able to build one of these buildings, but once it is constructed, you will be able to set your weather defenses to active to help mitigate the damage that severe storms might otherwise cause. Building your weather station also allows you to see the current concentration of Strontium 90 fallout.

You will only be able to build 1 weather station for your camp, but once it is built, you will have all the weather protection possible without a mastery. Once your weather station is constructed, you will be able to turn on your weather defenses. This will allow you to protect your buildings from severe storms. Your weather station will need 4 land, 4 building supplies, and 4 workers to construct. Once built, it will have no daily costs and will require only 2 people for staffing. You will need building supplies if you turn weather defenses on, but only if a storm hits your camp. You will use the Construct page to build this structure, like any other building.

Opening Requirements:

You will open this building by researching Architecture and Ingenuity to at least 10.

Improvements:

You can improve the forecast ability of your weather station by researching Architecture and/or Spatial Logic. This will decrease the number of building supplies needed to cover your camp. Architecture and Ingenuity will increase your chances of predicting whether or not a storm will be mild so you'll waste fewer supplies on non-damaging storms.

Limitations:

You will only ever be able to build 1 weather station.

Displays:

There are only a couple of displays associated with your weather station. Your main display will be on the right-hand side of your screen. Here you can see what the weather is supposed to be like for the day. Beneath the weather and season display is a link for your weather defenses. This will be your secondary display to remind you when your weather defenses are on or off.

Inside the page where you activate and deactivate your weather defenses, you can check below the activation/deactivation button to see how many building supplies your camp needs to board up for a storm.

You will also want to keep track of how many building supplies you have in storage by checking the display on your top bar. These are the supplies that will be used to board up your buildings in the event of a storm.

You will not be able to change the staffing on this building, only demolish it, though you will be able to see whether or not you have one by checking the Construct screen.

Special Considerations When Demolishing:

The only things you should keep in mind if you decide to demolish your weather station is that you cannot activate your weather defenses if you do not have a weather station, nor can you see the fallout levels in the atmosphere. This can leave your camp very vulnerable if a severe storm hits or if the fallout levels begin climbing to a lethal point.
